Mental Slavery

Once again I am too lazy to make a decent post with some nice pictures and an amuzing story. This is because my entire brain has become consumed with World of Warcraft. The most popular online game in the world, over five million people must be onto something.

As for my other, less mind-sucking activities as of late, the trip to Thailand is indeed in the bag. I leave on Monday, although I leave the house on Friday. The plan is to be picked up by the friends I brought with me to America, drive to Ise for the weekend, then be dropped off for the flight to Thailand after our tour. It's gonna require some daft packing.

First of all, Ise (pronounced ee-say). Not too far from Osaka, it's the southern penninsula jutting out of central Honshu. Mostly mountainous and not a major urban center, it's famed for its beaches and forests. I'm hoping to see Ise Jingu, one of the major temple complexes I studied in my Japanese culture class back at UF. We'll be staying in my friend's summer home, I think. So I imagine it will be quite nice, and we'll be eating some top-quality regional specialities.

Then Thailand. This will be my second time, although the previous experience was a just a two hour layover. The plan is to stay in Bangkok a few days, then bus down to Pattaya beach, then off to parts unknown. I've been told it's an easy trip to hop on busses and boats up the Mekong into Cambodia. I can't pass up the chance to see Angkor Wat and the killing fields. The region has so much history, I'm chomping at the bit to get over there.

The trip is only two weeks, hopefully enough time to see most of what I want to see. Then I'm gonna be back in Osaka with another couple weeks of vacation to spend in the heat. No worries there, I've got World of Warcraft (and Lost, Season 2) to keep me busy.
