An Interesting Day

Certainly, my life as of late has been less than eventful, just work and sleep. But today turned out a little more interesting.

Wednesday is a Kinki University day, so I was on from 11 to 6. It was crazy busy today, must have been two hundred students coming through for their assignment. The interesting thing is that we get a lot of special guests visiting the university, and today we had Takashi Yamamoto (I think that was his name). I don't know who he is, and most of the students don't either, but we were told he was an olympic medalist. He won the silver in swimming. I guess he was coming by to promote the university's sports programs, cause he brought his medal. That was the first time I'd seen an olympic medal in the flesh, it's pretty big.

We also had a world-class yo-yo'er stop by. He's on the Duncan yo-yo team, and can do some amazing tricks. It's really something to see a professional preformance like that. Then we had our local Rubik's cube expert come by and solve a few in under 20 seconds. All in all, a very impressive day.

More

Still doing the usual routine of work, capoeira, WoW, sleep with Sunday as my day off. It's certainly soul-crushing, but such was expected.

I hit level 70 with my main character in World of Warcraft, so I feel better about that. My first major accomplishment in I'm not sure how long. Which just goes to show how much is going on in my life.

Spring is underway here, and the flowers are blooming. We're going out for a hanami on Sunday. That's a picnic/party in the park with cherry blossoms. The capoeira people are putting it together, I'll just rock up with some beer and snacks. It's so nice to be in a country where drinking is legal outdoors, really makes the whole place feel more open.

I've been hitting up Costco recently, great place to fill up on some hard-to-find American essentials. A bit pricey when the travel time and expense is added, but I can't resist those cookies and muffins. And I can stock the freezer with giant slabs of frozen beef, steak is back on the menu!

We're kinda shaky on the future of the school, no new students in a couple weeks. We're getting some new fliers done and posting them might bring in more business. Kinki is good, I really like working there and wish I could be there full time. It's got me thinking about going back to school myself, which could happen someday now that my work ethic has improved. College was much easier than this!
